Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)

Out of all of the writers on The Office, I think Mindy Kaling was definitely my favourite. She wrote some of my favourite episodes, like “The Injury” and “The Dundies”
So, you can imagine my excitement when she published her first book Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me (And Other Concerns). I read it when it first came out two years ago, and I loved. It was the kind of book that I just devoured, laughing the whole time. But, like most books that I read, I forget how much I love them until I re-read them. I know that there are some people out there that don’t re-read books, or don’t do it very often. I do it all the time. I have to consciously choose a new book to read so I don’t read Pride and Prejudice for the fifth time (though, really that would not be a bad thing).
After re-reading Kaling’s book this last week, I was reminded again how much I love her writing. She is so gifted. I love her anecdotes about growing up, watching SNL, and how she started working as a staff writer for The Office. I love the feeling of finishing a book and feeling like you are friends with the protagonist, or the author if it’s biographical, and now I definitely feel like me and Mindy are best buds.
