How I Style Second Day Waves

howistyledaytwowavesLike I said last week when I shared my top salt sprays, beachy waves are definitely on trend right now, and perfect for summer. There are so  many posts and video tutorials to help get those messy, beachy waves, but not many show how to keep them going on day two. I try not to wash my hair more than twice a week, so I am always looking for great products to keep my style going on past the first day. In the last month or so, I’ve come up with the perfect combination to keep my hair from getting to flat or frizzy.

beforeseconddaywaves

bbpretapowderI start with a bit of dry shampoo in my roots. When my hair is wavy or curly, I prefer working with a powder like Bumble and bumble Prêt-à-Powder to soak up some of the oil. Batiste Dry Shampoo is another great option if you are looking for a budget option (though it is a spray). Using a good dry shampoo helps to give my hair some life and will help the style to last throughout the day (or two).

bbsurfspraySince my waves will start to fall after sleeping on them, I like to use another salt spray to give them more life. I find that Bumble and bumble’s Surf Spray works best for this step. Because it is stronger than the others that I have, it works best to put wave back into those stubborn strands. If there is too much curl at the ends, I will sometimes straighten just the ends to give it better look.

bbdryspunfinishTo add volume and texture, I use Bumble and bumble’s Thickening Dryspun Finish. This spray gives me the volume that I want, and adds to the textured look of my waves too. It helps to keep my hair from going flat by the end of the day. A more affordable option is Garnier Fructis Style De-Constructed Texture Tease Hairspray (though the hold is not as strong). Finally, to smooth down my frizz, I love using a tiny bit of Living Proof Satin Serum.

What do you use to add life back to your hair on day two (or three)?
