Subtle Glitter | Mani Monday

subtleglittermanimondayI love a bit of glitter on my nails, especially at this time of year. Though, since we are still just at the beginning of December, I want to keep it a little bit subtle before I start rocking the full-on glitter. Last week, after some inspiring pinning (mostly this pin in particular) and two new polishes added to my collection, I think I have found the perfect combination.

LOREALeiffelforyouUsing this L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Nail Polish in “Eiffel for You” for my base colour, I have the perfect neutral backdrop. This shade is slightly lighter than Essie’s “Chinchilly”, and perfect for fall and winter. A white would also be great for this look and perfect for a winter manicure, like OPI’s Alpine Snow. It goes on quite opaque, and two coats gives the perfect amount of coverage. The brush is also great for application as it’s large enough to cover the majority of your nail without it getting all over your skin in the process (my only complaint with wider brushes). Being that I’m such an Essie girl, I forget to look at other nail polish brands at the drugstore. I’ve always had good luck with this line from L’Oreal as they are long-wearing, come in a variety of colours and the packaging is gorgeous and simple.

Next, I apply a touch of a glitter top coat. Anything you have will work, but I decided to go with “Gold Crystal” from Joe Fresh. A mixture of gold and silver glitter in both large and small flecks, this top coat is perfect for adding a bit of interest to your nails. Adding it to just the tips makes it more appropriate for any fall or winter occasion (though if you ask me, glitter is always appropriate) and also makes it easier to take off. Another great option to try would be Essie’s “Summit of Style”, which is a bronze glitter topcoat. I think I will be using that one for Christopher’s work party next week.

Do you like to go all out with your glitter nails, or use it as an accent?
