Christmas Playlist

ChristmasPlaylistRather than talk about beauty or books today, I thought I would just share my favourite Christmas songs at the moment and the ones I will be playing all day today. This way, we can all get into the Christmas spirit (it is Christmas Eve, after all) and carry on with the rest of our plans. When it comes to Christmas songs, I’m often a traditionalist and continue to listen to the classics that made me love Christmastime as a kid. To me, nothing says Christmas like Brenda Lee singing “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree”, Frank Sinatra singing “Hark! the Herald Angels Sing” or Bob and Doug doing “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. However, I do love it when a traditional song is made into something new, or when an original Christmas song comes out. This year I am loving the entire Christmas album from Pentatonix, especially “The First Noël” and “Mary Did You Know” as well Rogue Wave’s cover of “Jingle Bell Rock” and Josh Groban’s “Thankful” always makes me cry. If you’re tired of the endless versions of “Last Christmas”, I would recommend just one more to help cure that — Findlay Brown’s version of the Wham classic is amazing. Trust me. It is folksy and delightful and completely transforms it. And finally, while I am not a Mariah Carey fan every other month of the year, in December, I will sing along to “All I Want for Christmas Is You” as if my life depends on it and wish desperately that I could sing (without shrieking) above a C. Below, you will find my Spotify Christmas Favourites playlist (which you can also find here).

I hope you have a lovely Christmas, and enjoy your time with family and friends. I will be back on Monday with a new post! See you then!
