Yesterday, I shared my makeup and nail favourites, so today I am continuing with the trend and talking about hair, body and skin care favourites from 2015. Just like yesterday’s post, these are the products that I have loved all year (or the majority of the year), the products that I compare everything else to, or the ones that I am continually repurchasing. It’s so hard to narrow it down to this small bunch, but these are the best of 2015 in my books.
Bumble and bumble, Sunday Shampoo. I love this shampoo for getting all the buildup of dry shampoos, texture sprays and hairspray out of my hair. Once a week (or bi-weekly), I will use this, followed by a moisturizing conditioner, or treatment and my hair is ready for another week of product. It never makes my hair feel dry or too clean (I know some people like the squeaky clean feeling, but it’s actually really bad for your hair).
St. Tropez, Self Tan Express Bronzing Mousse. 2015 was the year that I finally discovered good self-tanning products. For tanning my body, this mousse worked best. I found it was quite foolproof, and though I didn’t always like having to sit around for two or three hours waiting to take it off, it always blended in well and I never had stark lines from application. You can read my review of it here.
Origins, Original Skin Renewal Serum with Willowherb. This serum is actually geared towards my age group, which isn’t very common for serums (as they are generally meant for older consumers). It made my skin feel moisturized, bright and it helped keep my redness down. I recently finished it, and though it’s only been a few days, I miss it already.
Prada, Candy Eau de Parfum. 2015 was the year that I really got into fragrance. I tried out some great perfumes, and really started to figure out what I like. I didn’t think that I liked warm scents, but apparently I do. While I have a lot of fragrance favourites now (perhaps I will share my collection in a future post), Prada’s Candy has consistently been my favourite all year. It’s warm, but really sweet and perfect for any time of year. Whenever I wear it, I feel like I smell like me. Plus, I always get compliments on it.
Kiehl’s, Ultra Facial Cream. This is my favourite moisturizer to use in the evenings. It works well throughout the year, whether my skin is feeling extra dehydrated or pretty normal. If you want to read more about it, check out my evening skin care post
here.
Bumble and bumble, Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer. For the majority of the year, I used this every time I washed my hair. It works great as a leave-in conditioner to get rid of any tangles, nourish my hair and protect it from any heat styling (which I did a lot of). Every leave-in conditioner that I’ve used since finishing it off just can’t measure up (even if they are also really great for my hair). I think this might be the best thing that Bumble has ever made.
The Body Shop, Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil. I can’t remember how many bottles of this oil I bought in the year, but it was at least four. It takes off all my makeup and melts off my mascara. Because it’s a cleansing oil, it never makes my skin feel stripped of moisture. If you want to read more about it, you can check out my evening skin care routine
here.
Origins, Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask. Every time I use this mask, I can feel my skin thanking me. This saved me from some bad hormonal and stress breakouts and helped me on days when my skin was feeling extra dehydrated. I use it at least once a week, and after any clarifying mask and leave it on overnight. It makes my skin feel renewed, soft and hydrated. It also smells amazing.
Batiste, Dry Shampoo. This is the only drugstore dry shampoo (that I’ve tried) that actually rivals higher end options. After hearing so many great reviews of this dry shampoo, I decided to try it out. I fell in love instantly with how quickly it refreshes my hair without the feeling of build up and with little to no white cast. I have purchased at least three bottles in the last year, and will always have a bottle in my stash from now on.
Garnier Fructis Style, De-constructed Texture Tease Hairspray. I love this texture spray for adding volume to my roots on day two or three, for getting enough texture for messy braids or topknot, and I adore the fact that it’s less than $5. Because it’s a hairspray, it also adds some grip to my hair so that the volume actually stays and it’s not like a bottle of air like some texture sprays can be.
Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster. I loved using this in the spring and early summer, to give my face a glow without ever looking orange. I loved that I could just mix it in with my moisturizer day or night (sometimes both when I wanted quick results), so that tanning my face wasn’t an extra step. I also love that it’s a gradual tanner so it didn’t look unnatural. You can read my full review
here.
The Body Shop, Coconut Body Butter. It will take a miracle of a product to knock this body butter out of my favourites. This was also a favourite in
2014, but I couldn’t help putting it in this post as well. It makes my skin feel amazing, and it just smells so lovely.
It was a pretty good year for hair, body and skin care. I’m looking forward to trying new products this year and see if anything can stand up to these greats.
Have you tried any of these products? What made it to your favourites list for 2015?
