Products I’ve Used Up | January 2016

emptiesjan2016It’s that time again! Time for another empties post (and the first one of 2016)! I think this may be my smallest one yet, actually. Most months it seems I have enough to fill my empties basket, but that didn’t quite happen this month. When I went to write this post, I thought I only had three products, and then I remembered two more that hadn’t made their way to the basket yet. Most of these products I’ve either finished multiple times, or talked about in monthly favourites, so it won’t come as a surprise that these are the ones that have made it to my first empties post of the year.

NARS, Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer (in Terre Neuve). This was the first high-end tinted moisturizer that I tried, and it has solidified my belief that nothing but high-end will work for me when it comes to lightweight bases. This has been my go-to base for no-makeup makeup days, as well as days when I need more coverage. The formulation is really amazing, as it feels like nothing on the skin, but still gives my face a perfected (but not completely perfect) look, while still looking like skin and like I’m blessed with even skin on a regular basis. I purchased a backup in November, so I wasn’t too sad to finish this tube. I imagine this will continue to be a favourite for a very long time.

Origins, Original Skin Renewal Serum with Willowherb. My favourite serum from 2015, this serum made my skin brighter, hydrated and reduced redness (I’ve noticed a difference since I stopped using it). I talked about it in more detail in my 2015 favourites post, which you can read here. I will purchase this again, but I have a few samples to go through and another serum on my list to try at the moment, so it may be a few months before I buy another (or less if I keep thinking about how much I miss it).

Dove, Dry Spray Anti-perspirant. Normally I don’t include deodorant in my empties (I do use it though, I promise), but I thought I would with this one since it was something I hadn’t tried before. Dry spray anti-perspirants are quite popular right now, at least in the aisles of the drugstore, so I decided to try it back in September (the same time I did this haul). Overall I liked using it, and definitely appreciated the fact I never had deodorant stains on my clothes. However, I hated the powdery aerosol smell that came along when I sprayed it. I also didn’t like that the percentage of aluminium chlorohydrate is twice as high as in regular stick antiperspirants. Because of those two cons, I won’t purchase this again. On a related note, do you know of a good natural deodorant? I’ve heard great things about the LAVANILA Healthy Deodorant, but I’m not sure I want to be spending 4 times as much as I currently do.

The Body Shop, Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder. I’ve talked about this so much already, so I don’t want to go on too much about this now (read about it here, here, here and here). I loved this bronzer last year, because it was matte, natural looking, and not orange — exactly what I love in a bronzer.

CoverGirl, Full Lash Bloom Mascara (in Very Black). Another product that I’ve talked about non-stop in the last year (read about it here, here, and here). This is my favourite mascara for every day, and it’s also great (with a few layers) for adding volume to my lashes in the evening. Of course I already have another one on the go, though I will be on the lookout for a new favourite this year (suggestions are of course welcome).

Have you tried any of these products? What have you finished recently?
