Beauty Favourites | March 2016

marchbeautyfavourites2016I’m posting this later than I normally like to, but better late than never, right? March was a busy month, and I really didn’t try too many new beauty products. I mostly stuck with my go-to products that never fail, especially for early mornings when I had very little time to actually get ready before I had to go to work (5 am comes far too quickly!), or I was going makeup free to give my skin and lashes a much-needed break. However, despite not really trying anything new, there are a few things that have made it to the list of monthly favourites, both new additions and old favourites that I have rediscovered.

Maybelline, ColorSensational Vivids Lipstick in Fuchsia Flash. This bright pink is such a beautiful shade, and the kind that wakes up my face whenever I wear it. You can see it in action in this Instagram photo. I will be doing a full review of this shade, along with the majority of the Vivids line, so keep an eye out for that in the coming week.

Rimmel, Match Perfection Foundation. I bought this in my latest drugstore haul, and after one try I liked it. Now that I have had more time to use it, I have really fallen in love. It’s perfect for days when I want more coverage than my favourite tinted moisturizer, but it still has a natural finish, and it wears really well all day.

C.O. Bigelow, Tingling Foot Cream. Now that I am working part-time again, I am on my feet quite a bit more than I’m used to, and I have been feeling it. This mint gel-like cream offers a soothing and cooling effect to my sore and tired feet when I get home in the late morning or afternoon, and makes sure that I can still make it through the rest of my day.

Marc Jacobs, Daisy Dream Eau de Toilette. This month I have really fallen back in love with this fresh, floral scent with notes of blackberry, jasmine, musk and coconut water. I learned this month that this is a scent that works much better sprayed on before I get dressed, rather than after. That way it’s not as strong, and it mixes well with my personal scent. Plus, how gorgeous is that bottle?

Kiehl’s, Ultimate Strength Hand Salve. My hands had a bad couple of weeks when it came to their level of dryness. None of my other lotions were working, but this magic in a bottle worked. Somehow using this in the morning and evening (or just the evening if my hands are dry) gives my skin enough moisture to last all day, while also healing any painful cracks that comes from having the driest hands (thank you dry, Calgary air for that one).

Essie, Grow Stronger Base Coat. Since I’ve been posting more nail posts lately, I’ve put my nails through a lot and they were suffering a lot in the strength department. I’ve always had really strong nails, so that was something I wasn’t used to. As soon as I started using this (after I received in a Voxbox last month), my nails have felt much stronger, and I haven’t had any breakage. It’s also a decent base coat, and helps to make my manicure last as long as I want it to (which given my indecisive nature is really never more than a week).
