The Weekend Post | 05.14.16

cravecupcakesHappy Saturday! It’s been a long week, and I am so happy that the weekend is here. Don’t get me wrong, it’s been a pretty good week, but it’s been a tiring one. We started off the week with Chris getting a stomach bug and being home sick from work for a couple of days, which wasn’t fun for him. Or me. I’m not good with sickness — my own, or others. Our house has suffered from this as well. Whenever Christopher is home from work, I never get anything done. Even if he’s busy doing his own thing, I just automatically become more lazy. Not sure where that comes from. Maybe it’s just because it’s messes with my routine. He’s much better now though, and thankfully I didn’t get what he had.

It was an exciting week, because I had my first driving lesson with my sister-in-law, Chantelle. Yes, I am a 26 year-old woman who does not have her driver’s license. There are numerous reasons for that, but I guess they really don’t matter, because I am finally working on completing an important life goal. The lesson went better than I had expected, and I felt more comfortable than I thought I would. It helps that Chantelle is incredibly patient with me, and we drove outside of the city so I wasn’t worried about traffic or other drivers. I’m looking forward to our next lesson, but I have to keep reminding myself to take it one step at a time, because if I think about taking my test, or learning to drive standard (which is what Chris drives), I get too anxious and want to just give up. Baby steps. (“Baby steps through the office. Baby steps out the door.” Name that movie).

Yesterday, after work, my sisters and the kids went to Crave to get cupcakes. They had their Baker’s Dozen Day, with proceeds going to help Fort McMurray. Afterwards, I got to spend some time with Mikey so Chantelle could get some stuff done around the house. I love the time I get to spend with my nephews and nieces. It just makes my life so much better.

This weekend will likely be a quiet one. I will be babysitting again today for the other munchkins, and hopefully getting a handle on the mess that is currently my kitchen. And maybe some baking. I haven’t done any baking in ages, and I have at least 20 bananas in our freezer that need to be turned into bread.
