The Nail Polish I Didn’t Think I Needed | Mani Monday

Within the last few months, I’ve tried to be more selective about the nail polish that I buy. I already have a ton of polishes, so if I’m going to add something to my collection, I want it to be unique in colour or at least in formula so I don’t keep buying the same shades over and over. For a while now, I have heard people rave about Go Ginza from Essie. I always thought it was too similar to shades I already had, like Lilacism or Minimalistic, so I resisted buying it. But then I looked at it again, and realized it wasn’t quite the same.

essiegoginzaGo Ginza is described as “a soft cherry blossom pink”, but to me it’s much closer to a soft lilac. It’s a lovely light shade that is right up my alley right now, with its soft tone that not too close to neutral but far enough from bright. Like I said, I was worried about it being too close to Lilacism, but it’s much more purple and doesn’t have the grey tone to it. In terms of its comparison to Minimalistic, I would say it’s a cool toned purple version of the classic shade.

The formula is one of the best from Essie, going on easily with two coats, but opaque enough to go on in one thicker coat. It also lasts really well. I painted my nails with it the night before a shift, and it didn’t chip at all (I do shipment for a retail store, so I’m always opening boxes, or placing product, which isn’t always nice to my manicure).

I’m glad I decided on a whim to pick up this shade, even though I didn’t think I needed it. Now I’m not sure I could live without it. Funny how that happens, isn’t it?

Have you tried this shade? What is your favourite soft purple polish?
