Products I’ve Used Up | August 2016

empties-augustIt’s been a while, but once again my empties basket is full, so it’s time to talk about what worked, what didn’t, and what I’d purchase again.

empties-augustLet’s start with the products that I’ve used over and over, and that you’re probably tired of hearing about. In the last few months, I finished another Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, another Batiste dry shampoo (in the tropical scent), the Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil from The Body Shop and a Yes to Cucumbers Daily Calming Moisturizer. I have purchased another tube of concealer, because that stuff is gold and I don’t think I can live without it. At the moment, I am trying out new moisturizers and dry shampoos, but I will definitely purchase more Batiste and Yes to Cucumbers in the future. This may come as a shock to long-time readers, but I haven’t repurchased the cleansing oil, because I’m trying something new to take off my makeup, and I might like it more. I share more about that in another post soon!

empties-augustIn terms of hair care, I used up the Kukui Oil Shampoo and Conditioner from ogx, the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo and Amika’s Nourishing Mask. I loved the shampoo and conditioner, and found that they really did offer a lot of smoothing and hydration. At the moment, I’m testing shampoos and conditioner made specifically for colour treated hair, but I didn’t notice any fading or change to my colour when I was using the ogx shampoo and conditioner. I posted a review of Living Proof’s dry shampoo (which you can read here) months ago, and found myself using it sparingly because it was so good, and I didn’t want to waste it. I will definitely buy another bottle soon. I adore the hair mask from Amika, and my hair is definitely missing it since I finished it a few weeks ago. I currently have a tub in my online cart on sephora.com, and plan to order it ASAP.

empties-augustFor skin and body care, I finished a bottle of Dove Purely Pampering Shea Butter with Vanilla Body Wash, St. Ives Naturally Soothing Oatmeal & Shea Butter Body Lotion, REN Evercalm Anti-Redness Serum and the Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil (Light). Both the body wash and lotion are great, and I have repurchased (and will likely continue to do so). They’re also a great bargain too, making my skin extra soft and hydrated without having to spend too much. I did like the serum, and found that it did reduce my redness. However, it wasn’t amazing enough (at least for me) to justify buying it again. The argan oil was fantastic, and worked great as a facial oil, or on my hands when they were extra dry and cracked. I would definitely buy it again.

And lastly, in terms of makeup, I finished off the Benefit Gimme Brow (in Light) and the NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base. I love the Gimme Brow, and while I’m doing my brows a little bit differently these days (would you like to see a post about that?), and have tried a dupe for it, I still miss it daily, and should probably add it to my Sephora order. The NARS eyeshadow base is probably the best one I’ve used (though it’s been a while since I used the Urban Decay one), and nothing I’ve used since has lived up to it — that is until recently (but you’ll read about that soon enough). It’s still in the back of my mind though, and I do miss it, and you can bet I’ll have another in my makeup bag before too long.

Have you tried any of these products? What have you used up recently?
