Paris for One & Other Stories | Book Review

I have loved everything I’ve read from Jojo Moyes since reading Me Before You back in 2013 (read my review here). Every time she releases a new book, it goes to the top of my reading list. Paris for One & Other Stories was no exception.

Paris for One is a collection of short stories and one novella. I have loved reading short stories since my junior high days (“The Lottery” still haunts me to this day), and am always interested to see how writers whose style I know well will use the different format to share their stories. The stories in Paris for One were funny, touching and relatable with great characters.

Though I loved reading these stories (I read it in a weekend), the one thing that I was disappointed by was that there wasn’t room to tell more of the story. I was sad at the end of some the stories, wishing I could get to the know the characters better. I understand that that is how short stories work, but having read a few of Moyes’s novels, I’m used to her incredible gift of character development and found myself wanting more. I guess I’ll just have to wait for her next novel (no news about that yet).

Have you read Paris for One & Other Stories? Do you prefer short stories or novels?
