Goals for 2018

Happy New Year! Like the rest of the world, I am looking forward to a fresh start with 2018 and hoping for a great year. I love the start of the new year, as it’s like a rebirth, a new chance, and the fact that today, the 1st, is a Monday is even better. I’ve mentioned in past years that I don’t love the term “New Year’s Resolutions”, as it brings to mind going to the gym for two weeks and then stopping for the rest of the year. I prefer to make goals for the year, things that I can easily measure and hold myself accountable to, as well as things that are attainable and can be broken down into daily, weekly or monthly goals if needed.

Here are three of my goals for 2018:

  1. Trust my own creativity. Instagram and Pinterest are great sources of inspiration, but can quickly become places where I compare my worst to someone else’s best, and rather than being inspired, I feel compelled to follow instead of make it my own, or chose a better path for myself.
  2. Save. Save. Save. I say this every year, but it’s because it’s something that I need to continually work on. I am so bad at saving money. Honestly, I love to spend it. This year I am working hard to really consider where I spend my money, why I spend it, and what I lose out on when I am impulsive with our money.
  3. Take fewer pictures of myself. Being a blogger that mainly writes about beauty and fashion means that I have a lot of pictures of myself on my phone. I want to be able to look back on this year and be reminded of who I spent my time with, and what we did, and not just what I was wearing.
