YSL Volupté Tint-in-Oil

FullSizeRenderWhen I heard about the YSL Volupté Tint-in-Oil a few months ago, I knew I needed one for myself, so I picked one up during the last Sephora VIB sale. I have worn it nearly every day since and have been loving it.
The Volupté Tint-in-Oil retails for $35 in Canada and you can find it at Sephora or a YSL counter at The Bay or Nordstrom. It’s definitely a luxury product for me as I’m not usually one to shell out $35 for a lip product.
This is a lightweight oil that not only adds a pretty shine but also leaves your lips with a light stain. It contains apricot kernel oil, coriander fruit oil, jojoba seed oil, possiflora edulis seed oils, all which work together to condition your lips, which I think makes it unique.
It is so comfortable to wear, and I really am in love with the applicator. YSL really knows what they are doing. The applicator is slightly bent which makes it easy to apply on both the bottom and top lips evenly and not get it all over my face. I can also apply it without a mirror, which I love for those moments when I need a touch up, but can’t get to a mirror.
I have the shade I Rose You (04) which is a very light pink. Because my lips are quite pigmented on their own, it doesn’t change the colour very much on first application, but it definitely makes my lips look youthful, full and juicy — no #kyliejennerlipchallenge needed (don’t even get me started on that). If I don’t eat or drink right away, the glossy finish lasts at least an hour, and when reapplied the stain intensifies. I love using this on days where I can’t be bothered to put on lipstick or think too hard about whether or not my lip colour will look good with my eye look or outfit. I found that I could apply it over and over throughout the day and I wasn’t left with that gross feeling on my lips that I get with a normal gloss — you know when the gloss combines with dry lips for the worst combination ever (am I the only one?)
My other favourite way to wear it is over another lipstick. Yesterday I wore one of the Revlon ColorBurst Balm Stains in the morning, but after post-church nap (a weekly tradition) though the stain was still there, my lips needed a refresh and the tint-in-oil is the perfect thing.
I will definitely be picking up another one, but this time I will be going for one of the brighter shades like Cherry My Cherie (05) or Pink About Me (08).

Have you tried the Volupté Tint-in-Oil or any of the other lip oils out there? What do you think?

PS. Happy May the 4th! May the fourth be with you!
