Last week, I shared my thoughts and swatches on the Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters (most of which I picked up at a recent Shopper’s sale). Along with the Lip Butters, I also picked up more of the Super Lustrous Lipsticks which I already knew I liked. The line has a lot of variation in colours and finish so there is something for everyone.(left to right – Gentlemen Prefer Pink, Berry Couture, Plum Velour)
(wearing Gentlemen Prefer Pink)
Gentlemen Prefer Pink (Pearl) is a really light pink, and basically a nude for me — like a ‘my lips, but better’. The formula is light, slightly creamy and glides on easily. Every time I wear it, I wonder why I don’t wear it more often. I might actually be bumping Strawberry Shortcake in favour of this one for my every day choice. Berry Couture (Shine) is a subtle berry shade. I got a lot of wear from it in the fall and winter, and feel like it would be good any time of year because it’s not dark. Plum Velour (Shine) is one of my new buys and is darker than I normally go for. The ‘shine’ formula makes it less pigmented, but it’s still a really nice subtle plum or wine shade.
(left to right – Sultry Samba, Fuchsia Shock, Fuchsia Fusion)
Sultry Samba (Matte) is the perfect bright pink. I have been obsessed ever since I bought it back in January, and don’t see my love diminishing any time soon. This is definitely the longest lasting of the whole collection (thanks to the matte formula), but isn’t drying at all. Fuchsia Shock (Shine) really isn’t fuchsia at all. I’d say it’s closer to a darker version of Gentlemen Prefer Pink. Good for those days when I want some colour, but nothing too bright and maintenance. Fuchsia Fusion (Pearl) actually lives up to its name. It’s a beautiful dark fuchsia veering towards berry on the colour spectrum.
(left to right – Cherry Blossom, Love That Red)
Cherry Blossom (Pearl) is a really pretty red that can look closer to a dark pink or berry depending on the light and skin tone (I think it pulls more red on lighter skin tones). Love That Red (Crème) is a great retro red shade. It really is super creamy and applies like a dream. I wore this on Halloween to add the perfect addition to my 1950s housewife costume. Eight is probably enough as far as this collection goes, but I would still love to add Wild Orchid and Cherries in the Snow if I can find them.
