First off, I want to wish my American friends and family a happy 4th of July! I hope you are all enjoying your parties and fireworks decked out in your red, white and blue! This week, we celebrated our lovely country’s birthday. Wednesday was Canada Day, so Christopher had the day off. We went to a BBQ that his parents’ ward put on, saw my parents for a bit (and spent two hours talking to my mom, when I promised Chris it would be a quick visit), then headed downtown for some of the day’s celebrations. I was really excited to go because Dan Mangan + Blacksmith as well as Stars were playing before the fireworks. We walked around a lot, enjoyed some music (well, I did) and then watched the fireworks with my brother and sister-in-law. It was a long day, but a really good day. I love being a Canadian girl and celebrating this beautiful country, and of course I love an excuse to wear my favourite red nail polish and a red lip too.

Christopher is officially on vacation for the next week! We don’t have any concrete plans, but plan to enjoy a little stay-cation. I’m hoping we will be able to explore parts of the city that we never get to, get some hipster ice cream, maybe go to the zoo with my sister and the munchkins and possibly go to Banff for the day.
