It’s been a busy week over here! First, an update on my knee! Last week I shared that I had strained my knee from being possibly too enthusiastic about getting back into running, and was having a tough time having to just rest. This week I have improved almost completely and can get through a whole day without any pain meds or ice and no aching. I haven’t tried jogging yet, but I plan to do that next week, obviously going super slow and doing more interval training as well as some other exercises to build up my leg strength so that my knee isn’t carrying the burden on its own.
As far as happenings this week, like I said, it’s been busy. In my immediate family, our birthdays are all in the spring and summer (we start in May and end in August). If you include Christopher and in-laws we take up more of the year, but summer birthdays are still pretty concentrated. This week was my sister’s birthday (on Wednesday) and then my sister-in-law’s birthday (on Thursday). We enjoyed time together to celebrate, some yummy food and a fancy cake from my brother-in-law who had never baked a cake before. Unfortunately, the lovely summer weather decided to take a break and we were left with a cold, rainy day on Thursday, so plans of swimming at an outdoor pool had to be traded for a Costco trip and a trip to the mall. Of course, with the company (my brother and sister-in-law) it was a good time. We also saw Minions, which was a really cute movie. I love that we like our family and they like us back.
Though I’m behind on my blog reading this week (I’ll likely spend my weekend catching up), I have found some delightful links to share today:
The SPF Cheat Sheet from Caroline Hirons
And of course my favourite clips from Jimmy Fallon this week, Thank You Notes, True Confessions with Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, Drinko with Paul Rudd and Cara Delevingne Beatboxing (anyone else doing a happy dance that it’s back this week?)
In case you missed it on Instagram earlier, I’m celebrating the fact that my hair is finally getting longer! It might not seem that long, but compared to how short it was last fall, I’ll take it. Also, these cold days have meant I’m trading in my shorts for my warm leggings…hopefully that doesn’t last too long. I’d like to enjoy summer a little bit longer!
I hope you’ve had a lovely week! What do you have planned for your weekend?
