The Weekend Post | 10.25.15

theweekendpost102515-4The cold weather seems to have finally found us. It’s been a chilly, but quite lovely weekend, and I have a few highlights of the week to share, starting with Thursday. A month ago, I got a summons for jury selection (my first ever) and went downtown on Thursday morning. I wasn’t too thrilled that I had to get up at 5:30 that morning, but I was kind of excited to see how it all worked (I’m a big fan of lawyer shows, so being in a courtroom was exciting). After the judge came in, we found out that after a mix up with paperwork not being filed properly, a jury wasn’t actually needed for the trial, so by 10:00, we were free to go. At first I thought about how that whole morning was a waste of time, and that I could have slept in, and didn’t have to miss my classes, but then I decided to look on the brighter side. I was able to  do my duty as a Canadian citizen, I live in a country that has a court system with juries, it was a nice day, and I was only a few blocks away from Holt Renfrew. Plus, now I know what to expect if I ever get a jury summons again.

The second highlight of my week was definitely last night. Christopher and I went to the CPO for their “Superheros” concert. They played a selection of scores and themes from well-known superhero movies like The Avengers, Superman, Thor, and more. While I loved every moment of it (there’s just something about live music), while they were playing the score from Thor, I was so impressed and moved that I definitely cried. I love how powerful music can be. It can make me happy, sad, and completely overcome with too many emotions to ever put into words. If you ever have the opportunity to see the CPO, or any other orchestra or symphony, you should really go. It is so worth it.

Oh, and on a side note, I finally watched the movie, Fever Pitch. Yeah, I know. Jimmy Fallon is just too adorable.

And now for my favourite links from the week:

The announcement that Gilmore Girls will likely be coming to Netflix with a real final season (I still have trouble watching season 7).

A look at the new gel and pencil liners from Colourpop (I’m especially loving the metallic shades).

The cutest Halloween costume ever (I just might do this next year).

Adele’s new single, “Hello” (it’s basically on repeat over here).

This charming Birmingham home tour (how gorgeous is that bathroom?)

What was the highlight of your week? Are you as excited as I am about more Gilmore Girls?
