Whenever I add new items to my wardrobe, I like to pick items that are versatile. Besides a few dresses and my sweats, I don’t usually like having strictly casual clothes and strictly dressed up clothes. If I find something that can be worn for getting groceries but also to church, I am all over it. Currently, one of my favourite items in my closet is this plaid shirt. Most days, I wear it with black jeans and flats or booties, but my favourite thing to pair it with is an a-line skirt.

I love the cozy feel of the plaid, but the a-line skirt adds the perfect feminine touch. I bought this skirt last fall, and it has been a staple in my wardrobe ever since. It’s comfortable, but gives me a nice silhouette. But the most important thing? It has pockets! Every skirt and dress should have pockets (I still wish I had put them into my wedding dress). Adding nude tones with my bag and wedges keeps it from being too dark (and helps me to hold onto dreams of summer just a little bit longer). It was chilly when we left the house in the morning so my favourite new coat came in handy, but thankfully things had warmed up by the late afternoon and I really didn’t need it anymore. I just love that we have been able to enjoy fall this year. Falling leaves, cozy plaid and messy braids — what could be better?
