December Favourites

Happy New Year’s Eve! Can you believe that we have reached the last day of 2015? I feel like it should still be January at this point, as last December doesn’t seem so far away. But then I think about everything that has happened this year, and realize it’s been quite a full year. Before I get to my 2016 goals and reviewing my overall 2015 favourites, I want to talk about the products that I have loved in December. This month, I feel like I loved everything that I tried. I had to cut a lot out, and decided to stick to the things that were new to me, though I did make an exception for one a couple that were rediscovered favourites.decemberbeautyfavourites

Philosophy, Peppermint Stick Shower Gel. Every December, I like to use a peppermint scented shower gel. I’ve done this for at least five years, and love that it is one of my traditions that gets me in the Christmas spirit. Last year, I tried this shower gel from Philosophy and loved it so much that I bought another as a back up for this year. I’m so glad that I did! The scent is so strong that it lingers after my shower, but it is great when I’m using it and just makes me happy. To me, Christmas means peppermint and December wouldn’t be the same without it.

Benefit, Creaseless Cream Shadow in No Pressure. December has been a month of no-fuss makeup (minus special occasions), and this cream shadow has been my best friend. Described as a “rich fawn”, this shadow is light enough that it can be worn on minimal makeup days, but gives enough definition that it doesn’t look out-of-place on days when I want to wear more. If you’re curious to see it on, I’m wearing it in this picture that I posted on Instagram earlier in the month.

Benefit, Roller Lash Mascara. I mentioned in my last empties post that I finally purchased the full size after loving the deluxe sample earlier this year. I love this mascara because it gives my lashes so much length, and while it doesn’t give much volume to my lashes as a whole, I feel like it gives volume to each lash individually. It claims to curl lashes so well that a lash curler isn’t needed, but that’s not true for me (which I don’t mind), but it does hold a curl really well.

Tarte, Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in “Flush”. Earlier this year, I discovered how amazing these blushes are and after falling for “Dollface”, I decided to try this one. I actually think I love it even more. This cool-toned berry blush is perfect for adding a hint of colour to my cheeks without going over board. It really lives up to its name and truly gives a little “flush” to the cheeks — but only after I dust my brush off because this stuff is so pigmented!

Living Proof, Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo. I have really enjoyed using this dry shampoo this month. If you want to know more about it, you can read my review here. This has great for day three hair when I want to wear my hair down. It doesn’t add any buildup, but somehow it makes my hair look clean. I just love it. But I have to scale back my use a bit, because I’m not ready to shell out $30 for another bottle yet.

Make Up For Ever, Pro Bronze Fusion Bronzer. I’m nearly out of my favourite bronzer right now, so I decided to try something new before that one is completely gone. I bought this one off of Anna’s (from ViviannaDoesMakeup) recommendation, and once again she was right. I use the shade 20, and it’s the perfect barely-there-but-makes-me-look-less-like-a-ghost bronzer. I think I’ve only used my favourite once or twice since buying this at the beginning of the month, which just goes to show how much I love this stuff.

NARS, Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. I started using this tinted moisturizer again in the fall once my skin was back to its original pale self, but I kept forgetting to put it in a favourites post. I’ve used this a lot more this month, since I can’t be bothered to put a fuller coverage on most days, and it is perfect for days when I only have a few minutes to spare for my makeup, or when my skin is behaving well enough not to need much coverage (which has been most of the month — thank goodness). Expect to see this in an empties post soon, because this tube is definitely on its last legs.

Ardell, Demi Wispies False Lashes. I’ve tried fake lashes before, but I really fell in love with these ones this month. They’re really easy to apply, I can wear them without eyeliner (because I’m rubbish at that anyway), and with the right glue, they will last all night without a hiccup. I also love that these are add some drama to my eyes without being over the top. I will definitely be experimenting with different lashes in the new year now!

Have you tried any of these? What products have you loved this month? Let me know in the comments below!
