With the last week of January (what?!) upon us, it’s time to share my favourite songs from the last month. I have spent most of the month listening to my favourite Bowie tracks (since his passing on January 10th) and Eagles (since Glenn Frey’s passing on January 18th). I have to thank my Dad for introducing me to these musicians and making their music integral to my upbringing, and the influence that they continue to have on me. I only included one song each (though I did cheat with M. Ward’s cover of “Let’s Dance”), because I wanted to include some new music as well. Despite the fact that music seems to get worse and worse as the years go by, there is still great music being made. Songs like “Keeping Your Head Up” by Birdy, “Oceans” by Coasts and “Open Season” by High Highs remind me that there will always be good music to be found. These are the songs that make up the soundtrack of my January — lazy days at home, cleaning, organizing and cooking, and reminding me what is important and how great my life really is. You can listen to my January playlist here, or below.
