Over a month ago, I received a few of the new Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipsticks from Bite Beauty complimentary of the Influenster program. I’m a big fan of Bite’s lip mask and lipsticks, and was looking forward to trying something new.
I knew instantly that I was not going to like the shade “Demi-Glace” because I just can’t wear brown lipstick (it looks horrendous on me), so I haven’t tested that one out. But “Éclair” and “Flambé” looked right up my street, so over the last month or so I’ve given them a true lipstick test drive.
“Éclair” is described as a “soft rose” and it’s the perfect every day shade that is basically an amplified version of my natural lip colour (I’m wearing it in this Instagram post and this post too). The formula feels like a melted down lipstick and its incredibly pigmented. While it applies like a lipstick, I find it wears more like a gloss. It doesn’t dry down completely, which was disappointing to me the first time I wore it, since I was expecting it to be more like other liquid lipsticks on the market. Although it doesn’t dry down, and therefore is not transfer-proof, it wears really nicely and evenly throughout the day, even after eating (though that might have more to do with how closely it resembles my natural lip colour).
(L-R: Flambé, Demi-Glace and Éclair)
“Flambé”, a “vivid poppy” is my perfect summer red (I’m wearing it in this post). However, unlike “Éclair”, the formula is more sticky than creamy and reminds me a little bit of Maybelline’s Color Elixirs (read my review here), but with more pigment. This one did not wear well on me at all. The colour is beautiful when it’s applied, but if I eat anything, everything just clings to my lips because it’s so sticky and it becomes patchy. The first time I wore it was while taking these photos, and because it was a hot day, my brother and I got ice cream afterwards. After eating our delicious ice cream (“in cones!”), I had bits of cone stuck to my lips and my lipstick had smeared onto my chin. It’s a good thing we were already done taking photos. I have worn this shade a few times since (also wearing it here), but only when I knew I wouldn’t be eating and would be able to take it off or reapply within a couple of hours, just because the colour is so perfect.
If you love a matte lip or put on your lipstick and want to forget about it until you take off your makeup at night, this is not the lip product for you and you should try the Amuse Bouche Lipsticks or High Pigment Pencils instead. However, if you prefer your lip products to feel hydrating, love lip gloss but want something creamier, more pigmented and with a little more staying power (at least in Éclair’s case), I think you’d like this formula. Obviously I’ve only tried two shades, so I’m not sure how the others (there are 19 shades in total) are in comparison.
Have you tried Bite Beauty’s Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipsticks? What’s your favourite liquid lipstick?
