August Favourites

augustfavouritesIt’s September tomorrow. Can you believe that? I’m sure a lot of you are still soaking up the last bits of summer, trying to forget that fall officially comes in a few weeks, but I can’t wait. September is one of my favourite months of the year, and I am ready for fall to come (but only if winter stays far, far away). Before September comes, let’s get to my beauty favourites from this month.

augustfavourites2Even though I have a drawer full of lipsticks, there has been one that I’ve chosen over every other one almost every day this month. It’s the Revlon Colorburst Balm Stain in Cherish. The whole line of these stains are one of my favourites, but the light (but bright) pink shade is extra amazing. When you put it on, it doesn’t seem like much at first, but ten minutes later, it’s the perfect pink. As much as I’m looking forward to berry-toned lips in the fall, I will likely be keeping this one in rotation for a while.

augustfavourites3Though I swore for years I would never blush, I am slowly coming around to it (there will a post about that coming up soon). One of the blushes that has helped me to dip my toe in that pool is the Too Faced Pink Leopard Blushing Bronzer. This bronzer/blush combo gives a natural flush to the skin, with a bit of glow too. I find that it isn’t too strong, but is definitely noticeable on me. I also love that this is a combo blush, which makes it more subtle than a bright pink blush.

augustfavourites4Last month, I bought Makeup Geek eyeshadows for the first time. I have really loved using these shadows. I don’t use them every day, but when I do, I am so impressed with the quality. They are super pigmented, blend easily, and there is little to no fall-out, which I love. My favourites this month have been Unexpected, Mesmerized, Barcelona Beach and Moondust. You can read my full post about these shadows for a review and swatches here.

Every one talks about the Real Techniques makeup brushes, and for a while, I ignored it. I wasn’t a big fan of the style of the ferrel, and thought that Mac and Sephora brushes were better. But then I decided to try them out. I have learned the error of my ways, and will likely never go back to the expensive brushes (except for the Mac 217, because that thing is gold). The Expert Face Brush has been my favourite foundation brush lately. It blends everything like a dream, and gives a fuller coverage since the bristles are shorter and densely packed together. I have also been using this brush for concealer on most days when I don’t want to go all the way to the bathroom or kitchen to wet my Beautyblender.

My last favourite is the Urban Decay All-Nighter Makeup Setting Spray, which I’ve mentioned a few times, but this month is has been a solid favourite. With the hot days we’ve had this month (and last month too), a setting spray has been essential to keep everything on my face in place. It’s basically like hairspray for your face, and I love it. It’s not harsh, it gives my skin some extra dew if I’ve put a bit too much powder on, but it never makes my skin look or feel oily.
