September Favourites

septemberfavouritesI feel like I just wrote about my August favourites! How is it the end of September already? But, before October is here, I want to share a few of my favourite beauty bits from this month. It’s been a good one, and there are some great new favourites, and I’ve rediscovered some old favourites too.

Now that my hair is finally longer, I enjoy styling it a lot more. Just over a month ago, NUME was having a sale on curling wands, so I decided to finally try one out. I chose the 25 MM Classic Curling Wand and from the first time I tried it, I was in love. It gives me soft and loose curls or waves, and it’s so easy to use! I have chosen it over my straightener most days. I have also been obsessed with the Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment from Living Proof, which I reviewed last week.

It has been a few years since I’ve used a dedicated highlighter (I used to have a cream highlighter from Joe Fresh makeup, but they stopped selling it), but decided to try the Mary-Lou Manizer from theBalm. I love that I can get a soft, yet noticeable highlight, but it’s not overly glittery or powdery. The champagne colour is also great because it’s not too yellow or pink, but sits perfectly in-between. I don’t use it every day, but I always reach for it when I want to add a bit of glow to my face.

Now that autumn is here, I have found myself choosing darker eyeshadows over wearing bold lips. Dark berry lips don’t look very good on me, so I don’t have many choices for lipstick in the fall and I have enjoyed being creative and playing up the eyes. One of my favourite shades has been the Flower Beauty Color Play Crème Eyeshadow in Awesome Blossom. The bronze toned purple is the perfect autumnal shade, blends really well and can be worn with a light or heavy application.

Though the Coconut Body Butter from The Body Shop will always be my favourite, this month I have really enjoyed using the Mango Whip Body Lotion. The scent is fruity, but not in the same way that the Strawberry lotion is. I feel like it has more of a fresh scent than a fruity one, so it’s not over powering or too reminiscent of summer. The formula itself is also very lovely and keeps my skin hydrated throughout the day. For perfume, I have been using Nirvana Black from Elizabeth and James again. I love the deep, warm smell and think it will be my perfect fall scent for a while. I started using it again at the end of the summer when the crispness came back in the air, and it just felt right. I do have to be careful not to go overboard though, because a little bit definitely goes a long way. It also lasts a really long time, so I don’t have to reapply it more than once in the day very often.

My last favourite is one that I never thought would make it to a list of makeup favourites: a blush. I have recently ventured into blushes, which may sound odd to other makeup lovers out there, but with my pink-toned and cheeks prone to blushing quite easily on their own, I never thought I needed it. However, I decided to try a few out, and have actually been converted. I now understand the importance of blush, though I’m not one to pile it on or have more than a handful in my collection. My favourite, and the one that I use almost exclusively is Tarte’s Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Dollface. I picked up this cool-toned pink because Kate from The Small Things Blog talks about it all the time. It’s that perfect baby doll pink and adds just a hint of pink to my cheeks without it being obvious that I’m wearing blush. The formula is really smooth, and blends incredibly well. It also lasts all day. I haven’t really tested out the 12-hour claim, but I would say it’s likely very close to that.

Have you tried any of these products? What have you been loving this month?
