Hey, friends! It’s been a while since I’ve posted, and there are a few reasons for that, but one of the biggest you already know if you’re following me on Instagram. Recently our landlords listed our house, and so we’ve had to deal with showings every few days for a couple of weeks, and the uncertainty of what would happen to us. It left me in a bit of a funk, and unfortunately that meant that blogging was low on my list of priorities. But September is here, and things are looking up. Before I get into sharing my favourite fall trends, outfit inspiration and beauty routines, it’s time to look back on the beauty products that made it to my favourites list in August.
In my last empties post, I mentioned that I had started using something other than my favourite cleansing oil at night. That would be Clinique’s Take Off the Day Cleansing Balm. Now, I hope you’re sitting down, because I actually like this balm better than either of my favourite cleansing oils. I love the way that it gets rid of everything on my face at the end of the day, and how smooth and easy to work with it is.
It’s not often that I come across a perfume that I love more than my all-time favourite, but I may have found a contender last month. As a point perk from Sephora, I got a deluxe sample of the Stella McCartney Pop Eau De Parfum. It’s sweet and feminine but with a hint of musk and still perfect for every day wear. I think it’s the combination of sandalwood, violet and musks that won me over.
Everyone talks about how great the MAC Paint Pots are, especially the shade Painterly (at least those that are as fair as me). I bought it a few months ago, not sure it would live up to the hype, but as you might have suspected, it does. The shade is perfect as a colour corrector to cover any veins on my lids, and it also works well as a solid base to reduce creasing and increase wear time. I’m not sure if it’s as stellar as my favourite eye shadow primer, but it certainly gets the job done.
When Benefit launched their new line of brow products, I was excited to try something new, knowing that I already loved the Gimme Brow. I decided to try the Goof Proof Brow Pencil. This little pencil has been a such a life changer, and opened up my eyes to what a little bit of filling in and definition can do to my brows. Now I just want to try all of the brow pencils out there.
In the summer months, I love bronze eyeshadow. This last month, I really fell in love with ColourPop’s Super Shock Shadow in Blaze. It’s such a gorgeous metallic shade, and gives me all the summer feels every time I wear it. When I wear the bronzed eye look, I like to keep my lips neutral, which lead me to another favourite: Buxom’s Full-On Lip Cream in Dolly. I love the minty scent of Buxom’s lip glosses and this shade is such a beautiful mauve that isn’t too deep for my skin tone.
Lastly, I fell back in love with Living Proof’s Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment. I love how soft and nourished it makes my hair feel, as well as how much easier it makes to blow-dry my hair straight (it basically gets rid of all the frizz). You can read my full review here.
And there you have it! Here’s to a great September and all the Pumpkin Spice we can take!
